Play Therapy: Shannon Family Resource Centre is now in a position to offer Play therapy to children aged 3 years to 12 years in the local community based on the increased need for such a service identified by schools and the local child and family support network in the area. We are delighted to have obtained the services of Janette Casey from Play Therapy Ireland to facilitate the therapy at Shannon Family Resource centre.

WHAT IS THE LOWER AND UPPER AGE RANGE FOR PLAY THERAPY?
3 years to 12 years of age.
DO I NEED TO ACCOMPANY MY CHILD TO PLAY THERAPY?
Yes, but your child will engage with the play alone during the session once the initial screening meeting has taken place.
How do i register my child for play therapy?
You must download and complete the parental consent form on this page and complete the Strengths and difficulties questionnaire also and send both of them to playtherapycoclare@gmail.com to be considered for play therapy.
what happens once the referral form has been submitted?
Janette will get in contact with the parent/guardian directly to set up a meeting to disuss the childs needs and make a plan for the therapeutic intervention (Play Therapy).
HOW MANY SESSIONS OF PLAY THERAPY WILL MY CHILD RECeiVE?
6 sessions initially of 40-50minutes duration, further sessions will be discussed with the parent/guardian following the initial 6 week review with the therapist.
What happens once ive submitted my childs consent form and questionnaire?
Janette will contact you to arrange an initial meeting to discuss your childs needs and agree a plan for therapy to begin.
How much does play therapy cost?
Play Therapy is FREE of charge, Shannon Family Resource Centre has secured funding from the HSE through the National Family Resource Centre Forum to provide this service to the community.
