Following our latest Planning meeting for our Parenting Peer Support Network which was held on Monday 9th September 2024 at Shannon Family Resource Centre.

INVITES YOU TO BE APART OF A
PARENTING PEER SUPPORT NETWORK.
Our Family support worker Cathal has met with a lot of parents who are keen to develop a Parenting Peer Support Network in Shannon, many of these parents have completed parenting programmes through Shannon Family Resource Centre or other agencies in the community. The overwhelming sense from parents is that its good to get out of the house and meet other parents and its great to share information with one another to keep informed of what's going on in the community and to share information and resources relevant to supporting children and families with one another.
The Parenting Peer Support Group was piloted between September and December 2023, funding of €2000 was secured from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth earlier this year to support the establishment of the network in the community. The group which is always open to new members undertook a range of training and workshops ion 2023 including:

- Monthly Check In Meetings focusing on parenting and problem solving.
- First Aid & CPR Training with Gerry from Shannon PT.
- Mindfulness coaching with Louise Lynch.
- Creative Play with children with Cathy from The Swallows Trail Parenting
- Team building Pottery making at Ballymorris Pottery Cratloe.
- Christmas Crafts with Sheila from LCETB.
